DECREE: MARKING THE JEWISH POPULATION

Decree of Governor General Hans Frank about the marking of the Jewish population, Krakow, November 1939

  1. All Jews and Jewesses living in the General Government who are above 10 years of age, starting December 1, 1939, are obligated to wear on the right sleeve of their garment a white band, at least 10 cm wide, with a star of Zion.
  2. These bands, complete with the appropriate symbols have to be supplied by the Jews and Jewesses themselves.
  3. Those who fail to obey this rule will be subject to imprisonment. The sentences will be delivered by Special Courts.
